As a Registered Nurse in Medical Oncology at Thompson Oncology Group, you will be an integral part of Covenant Health and the Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Thompson Oncology Group is dedicated to providing top-notch medical oncology services and ensuring that patients have access to the most effective drug-based treatments and cutting-edge clinical trial medicines. Our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologists and certified advanced practice providers deliver comprehensive care and treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy at infusion centers across the region. In your role, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care within your assigned unit and collaborating with other healthcare disciplines to coordinate care planning. Your duties will include assessing patient history and support systems, identifying learning needs of patients and their families, developing and implementing individualized care plans, recommending appropriate interventions, and evaluating the effectiveness of the care provided. Additionally, you will be expected to demonstrate active participation in unit and facility activities, as well as a willingness to mentor and precept employees and students as directed. You will need to show competence in performing critical nursing skills tailored to the age-specific needs of the patients under your care. Supervising LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters will also be part of your responsibilities. To qualify for this position, you must possess a valid Tennessee RN license and have a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience. Continuing education is essential, with sixteen contact hours required annually (eight to enhance clinical expertise) or twelve contact hours required annually, in addition to ACLS or approved specialty certifications. Fire/security, infection control, and CPR inservices are also mandatory.
