Reporting Engineer - Looker

Job Description: Development and maintenance of reporting tools, mainly Looker. Knowledge of Looker is good to have. Technical expert & day-to-day development together with support engineers. Assist design overall instance architecture to minimize duplicate work, optimize speed, and provide a clear, streamlined end-user experience Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders across the organization. Ensure the delivery of reliable software and data pipelines using data engineering best practices, including secure automation, version control, continuous integration/delivery, proper testing. A commitment to teamwork and excellent business and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be an essential part of our growing data engineering and analytics team and be responsible for our technological and architectural vision. The Ideal Candidate: Has a minimum of 3 years practical experience in data reporting and engineering for business intelligence platforms especially in Looker. Has a bachelor s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, physical sciences, or other related field. Excellent skills with SQL as well as distributed source control such as GIT in an Agile- Scrum environment. Experience with LookML, python is a plus. Experience with administration of BI administration tasks such as cloud setup, instance setup and upgrading, backup creation and disaster recovery, etc. Has a strong understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehousing methodologies. Excellent at identifying root-cause issues behind data discrepancies. Is able to optimize SQL queries both directly and through BI-tool generation to minimize processing time required for insights. Is aligned with the latest data trends and ways to simplify data insights. Is passionate about data and the insights that large amounts of data sets can provide Experience within retail analytics is a plus.
