Job Description

Position:

Role & responsibilities

A. Patient Care

  • Provide direct bedside nursing care to critically ill patients.
  • Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, ventilator settings, and patient responses.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as per doctors orders.
  • Manage critical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of nursing notes and observations.
  • Maintain hygiene, comfort, and safety of patients.

B. NICU-Specific Responsibilities

  • Care for premature and critically ill newborns.
  • Assist in neonatal resuscitation and emergencies.
  • Monitor feeding (breastfeeding, tube feeding, TPN) and maintain feeding charts.
  • Support parents emotionally and guide them in neonatal care practices.
  • Maintain infection-control protocols to protect high-risk infants.

C. ICU-Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage patients on ventilators, continuous infusions, and life-support treatments.
  • Assist in bedside procedures like intubation, central line insertion, ABG sampling, etc.
  • Provide care for post-operative, trauma, cardiac, and medical ICU patients.
  • Recognize early signs of deterioration and escalate immediately.

. Responsibilities in Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with doctors, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate patient status updates to senior staff and patient attendants.
  • Ensure proper handover during shift changes.

. Compliance & Safety

  • Follow hospital policies, nursing protocols, and infection control practices.
  • Ensure safe handling of equipment and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical nursing standards.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Qualification:

    GNM / B.Sc Nursing / M.Sc Nursing
  • Experience:

    • NICU: Minimum 12 years in Neonatal ICU preferred
    • ICU: Minimum 12 years in Intensive Care Unit preferred
  • Registration:

    Valid Nursing Council Registration
