R&D Engineer - Mechanical

Role Overview: As a part of Technology and Solutions Development for HVDC applications at Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC), you will be working on new product development projects with a focus on valve mechanical design tasks. Your role will involve overseeing DFA/DFM, performing DFMEA, and preparing mechanical designs for converter valve components. You will also be responsible for participating in product verification tests and ensuring a product lifecycle perspective in the design work. Key Responsibilities: - Work on new product development projects focusing on valve mechanical design tasks involving areas such as heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials, and manufacturing technologies. - Oversee DFA/DFM for new product development across different R&D projects. - Perform DFMEA to prevent unnecessary product development issues in the future. - Design mechanical components for converter valves, including design calculations, preparation of design specifications, and technical documents. - Prepare 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOM. - Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design. - Consider various aspects like reliability, safety, maintainability, tooling, and manufacturing requirements in the design work. - Uphold Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for your actions and caring for your colleagues and the business. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering. - 5+ years of experience within Mechanical Design and new Product development. - Deep understanding of mechanical core competencies, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, and basic understanding of electrical technology. - Electromechanical design experience from the electric power industry or design of high voltage products is valuable. - Strong proficiency in 3D-CAD modeling, ideally in NX environment. - Basic understanding of FEM and Ansys/Abaqus. - Working knowledge of Team Center PLM system and SAP. - Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.,
