Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Imaging & Diagnosis:

  • Interpret and report diagnostic imaging studies, including:
  • X-rays
  • Ultrasounds
  • CT scans
  • MRI scans
  • Mammograms
  • PET scans (if available)
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Communicate critical or unexpected findings to referring physicians promptly.
  • Ensure quality control and accurate image acquisition by collaborating with radiology technicians.

Interventional Procedures (If applicable):

  • Perform image-guided procedures such as:
  • FNACs (Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology)
  • Biopsies
  • Drainages
  • Joint injections
  • Collaborate with surgeons and specialists during interventional radiology procedures when required.

Administrative & Clinical Support:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and imaging reports.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to discuss imaging findings and contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions and tumor boards.
  • Ensure adherence to radiation safety standards for patients and staff.
  • Monitor imaging protocols to maintain high diagnostic standards.

Quality Assurance & Development:

  • Participate in regular audits of imaging reports and equipment calibration.
  • Stay up to date with advances in radiology, AI-based tools, and emerging imaging technologies.
  • Contribute to training and supervision of junior radiologists, residents, and radiology technicians (if applicable).
  • Assist in developing or updating imaging protocols and institutional SOPs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Qualification:

  • MBBS from a recognized institution.
  • MD / DNB in Radiology or Diploma in Medical Radiology & Electrology (DMRE).
  • Fellowship in advanced imaging (optional but desirable).
  • Experience:

  • Minimum 35 years of independent reporting experience in general radiology and/or sub-specialties.
  • Experience in interventional radiology is an added advantage.
  • Licensure:

  • Valid medical registration with State or National Medical Council.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic imaging and radiologic pathology.
  • High level of accuracy in interpreting imaging findings.
  • Proficient in using PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), RIS (Radiology Information System), and other digital reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex findings to clinicians.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple imaging cases in high-volume settings.
  • Commitment to patient safety, data security, and ethical practices.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Subspecialty expertise (e.g., neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, breast imaging, cardiac imaging).
  • Experience in teaching and academic research.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted diagnostics and tele-radiology platforms.
  • Participation in professional organizations like IRIA, RSNA, or ESR.
