Quality Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Raw Material & Production Quality

(a) Inspect and test incoming raw materials (cement, aggregates, steel, admixtures, etc.) for compliance with standards.

(b) Monitor concrete mix designs, batching operations, and slump/temperature testing.

(c) Conduct in-process inspections during mould preparation, reinforcement placement, concreting, and demoulding.

(d) Oversee cube casting, curing, and compressive strength testing.

2. Precast Product Inspection:-

(a) Inspect finished precast elements for surface finish, dimensions, alignment, reinforcement cover, cracks, and defects.

(b) Ensure conformance with shop drawings, tolerances, and quality specifications.

(c) Issue and track non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support corrective actions.

(d) Perform load testing, pull-out tests, and other product performance evaluations when required.

3. Documentation & Reporting:-

(a) Maintain all QC records including raw material test reports, batch records, cube test reports, and final inspection logs.

(b) Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for internal and client review.

(c) Assist in ISO, customer, and third-party audits.

4. Continuous Improvement & Compliance:-

(a) Identify root causes of recurring defects and suggest process improvements.

(b) Ensure adherence to industry codes (IS, BS, ASTM) and client requirements.

(c) Support training of production teams on quality procedures and standards.

5. Required Qualifications & Skills:-

MTech / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology

25 years of relevant experience in QA/QC, preferably in a precast or concrete manufacturing environment

Sound knowledge of concrete technology, testing standards, and inspection procedures

Familiarity with codes like IS 456, IS 10262, ASTM, BS, or Eurocodes

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and QA/QC documentation

Proficient in MS Office, quality formats, and report writing
