The aspiring chartered accountant candidate must be adept at auditing, tax planning, and preparing reports. The ability to meticulously plan financial processes, while staying on top of the dynamic financial regulatory laws is a must. Objectives of this role Ensure compliance with national and international financial regulatory laws Find the best financial solutions for clients and on an in-house level Manage financial systems and keep track of budgets as a professional chartered accountant Help the business remain profitable and safeguard the financial reputation of a company through the chartered accountant services Scope of Work: Audit & Compliance: - Covers financial, tax, and regulatory audits to ensure the organization meets legal and operational requirements. It includes: Statutory Audit: The audit covers Examining the balance sheet, profit & loss statement, cash flow statements, and notes to accounts for accuracy and compliance. Verify books of accounts, ledgers, vouchers, and supporting documents. Evaluate the effectiveness of internal financial controls and risk management practices. Conduct detailed testing of financial transactions, sampling of records, and analytical review of financial trends. Verify inventory, assets, and liabilities if applicable. Issue an audit report containing findings, observations, and an independent opinion on financial statements. Financial Statement Review & Compliance: Ensure accuracy and transparency in financial reporting, adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and compliance with: i. Companies Act, 2013 (for Indian companies) or relevant corporate laws. ii. Income Tax Act for tax compliance, TDS, and reporting. iii. GST Act & Other Indirect Taxes where relevant. iv. SEBI Regulations (for listed companies). v. Other sector-specific laws applicable to the business. Regulatory & Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks related to financial reporting, taxation, and compliance. Develop strategies to mitigate non-compliance risks and implement corrective measures to avoid penalties. Indirect Tax Litigation (GST & Others) This aspect deals with legal matters related to Goods and Services Tax (GST), customs, excise, and other indirect taxes: GST Audits & Notices: Handle audits conducted by tax authorities, respond to notices, and ensure timely compliance with GST laws. Litigation & Representation: Prepare appeals, replies, and representations for GST disputes. Represent the company before GST officers, appellate authorities, and tribunals. GST Advisory & Compliance: Guide businesses on GST classification, input tax credit claims, tax refunds, and compliance requirements to minimize litigation risks. Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Matters: Assist in litigation and compliance related to legacy tax regimes like excise and service tax where applicable. Direct Tax Litigation (Income Tax, Corporate Tax) Focuses on managing corporate tax disputes and ensuring compliance with direct tax regulations: Tax Assessments & Dispute Resolution: Handle income tax assessments, manage appeals, and negotiate dispute resolutions with tax authorities. Representation Before Authorities: Represent the organization before the Income Tax Department, the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), and higher courts if required. TDS, Advance Tax & Transfer Pricing Compliance: Ensure proper deduction and payment of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), timely advance tax payments, and adherence to transfer pricing regulations in international transactions. Tax Planning & Optimization: Develop strategies to optimize tax liabilities while ensuring full legal compliance, reducing the risk of litigation and financial penalties Responsibilities Liaise with clients to provide the best solutions as a chartered accountant Conduct audits, maintain financial management and deal with taxation File income tax returns, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports Provide sound financial advice to clients, keeping in mind the financial regulatory laws Ensure proper tax planning, and ethical accounting practices as a certified chartered accountant Guide and monitor junior chartered accountants and colleagues to achieve the best accounting practices Be well versed with GST return and TDS as well. Should be well aware of how to prepare SCN notices reply. Have great drafting skills.
