Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our quality assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and business analysts, you will contribute to the automation and improvement of testing processes, supporting continuous integration and delivery workflows. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of our enterprise applications, ensuring business objectives are met through rigorous testing practices.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Selenium WebDriver with Java (version 8+) for automation scripting
- Experience with TestNG, Maven, and Jenkins for test automation and continuous integration
- Good knowledge of bug tracking and test management tools such as JIRA and Zephyr
- Hands-on experience with API testing using tools like Postman or RestAssured
- Database testing skills with SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes
Preferred Skills:
- Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git
- Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure) for testing cloud-based applications
Overall Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive automated test scripts for functional, regression, and API testing
- Execute automated test suites and analyze results to verify application functionality and performance
- Identify, document, and track defects, follow up on bug resolution, and communicate issues to relevant teams
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other QA team members to understand requirements and improve testing coverage
- Support continuous integration and deployment by integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Review and improve existing test cases to enhance coverage and efficiency
- Contribute to test environment setup, data management, and test planning activities
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Document test procedures, configurations, and results, ensuring clarity and compliance with quality standards
- Stay updated on testing best practices, automation tools, and industry trends to foster continuous improvement
Technical Skills (By Category)
Programming Languages & Testing Frameworks:
- Required: Java (version 8+), Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, Maven, JUnit (preferred)
- Preferred: RestAssured for API testing, scripting skills in Python or other languages
Databases & Data Management:
- Required: SQL experience with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
- Preferred: Experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and database validation
DevOps & CI/CD:
- Required: Experience with Jenkins or similar tools for automating builds and test executions
- Preferred: Knowledge of integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with containerization (Docker)
Tools & Environment:
- Required: Bug tracking (JIRA), version control (Git), test management tools
- Preferred: Performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner
Methodologies:
- Required: Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks
- Preferred: Knowledge of BDD frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow
Experience Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in automation testing within enterprise environments
- Proven expertise in developing and executing automation scripts for web applications and APIs
- Solid understanding of testing life cycle, test case design, and defect management
- Prior experience with continuously integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile projects
- Knowledge of cloud environments for testing purposes (preferred but not mandatory)
- Alternative pathways: Candidates with significant experience in manual testing complemented by automation skills will be considered if proficiency in key tools is demonstrated
Day-to-Day Activities
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases for new and existing features
- Troubleshoot automation scripts, debug issues, and optimize test performance
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives with the Agile team
- Review test cases and results, providing feedback for refining testing strategies
- Collaborate with developers to understand technical implementations and identify test scenarios
- Analyze defects and coordinate with developers for issues resolution
- Execute regression and API test cycles to ensure feature stability
- Contribute to build management, test environment setup, and test data provisioning
- Stay current with emerging testing tools, automation frameworks, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Selenium Tester, or Automation Testing certifications are a plus
- Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles and automation frameworks
