Job Description

As an experienced and passionate French Language Teacher for PYP/MYP Grades, you will be responsible for teaching French following the IB curriculum and fostering a stimulating, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Your key responsibilities will include planning, delivering, and assessing engaging French language lessons that align with the IB MYP framework. You will incorporate both language acquisition and language literature components into the curriculum and create differentiated learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students. In terms of assessment and reporting, you will utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction. Providing regular feedback and reports on student achievement in line with IB assessment criteria will also be part of your role. Collaboration is essential as you will work closely with other subject teachers, the coordinator, and the modern languages department to ensure interdisciplinary learning. Additionally, you will participate in regular department meetings and contribute to curriculum planning and development. Supporting students will be a key aspect of your role as you aim to foster a love for language learning and cultural appreciation among students. Providing additional support for students who need extra help, both within and outside the classroom, will be crucial. Continuous professional development is important, and you will engage in ongoing opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching and language education. Attending IB workshops and collaborating with other teachers worldwide to share resources and strategies will also be part of your professional growth. Extracurricular engagement is encouraged, and you will support language-related activities such as language clubs, cultural events, or exchange programs. In terms of qualifications and skills, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in French Language, Linguistics, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of teaching French in a middle setting is required, with prior experience with the IB curriculum being a strong advantage. Fluency in French (native or near-native level) and a strong command of English are essential. Excellent classroom management and communication skills, proficiency in integrating technology into language teaching, and a passion for working with middle and high school students in an international, diverse setting are key attributes for this role.
