As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other IT peripherals. Your role will involve troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues, providing first-level support to users, and ensuring timely system upgrades and patches. You will also be in charge of maintaining inventory and records of IT assets, setting up new user accounts, and managing permissions. In addition, you will need to support LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity issues. To qualify for this position, you should have a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in desktop support or IT helpdesk roles. A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is required. Basic knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, and remote desktop tools is essential, along with familiarity with antivirus, backup, and system update procedures. Good communication and problem-solving skills are also important, as well as the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Preferred skills for this role include knowledge of basic networking concepts such as IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, and certification in hardware and networking (e.g., CompTIA A+, N+, MCP) would be a plus.
