Job Description

Position Summary

The Purchase Engineer Specialist Interior is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring materials, finishes, fixtures, and services required for interior design and fit-out projects. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards, timely delivery, and alignment with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Identify, qualify, and maintain a strong vendor base for interior materials (wood, laminates, veneers, hardware, glass, metal, paint, fabrics, modular furniture, lighting, etc.).
  • Source technical, engineered, and custom-made interior items as per project requirements.
  • Obtain and compare quotations, negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure adherence to procurement policies.

2. Technical Evaluation

  • Review interior drawings, BOQs, material specifications, and shop drawings to determine material requirements.
  • Evaluate suppliers technical capability, quality standards, and compliance with project specs.
  • Coordinate with design/engineering teams to finalize material approvals and samples.

3. Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Assist in budget estimation for interior material requirements.
  • Ensure all procurement is within budget while achieving optimum cost savings.
  • Monitor price fluctuations in the market and update cost databases.

4. Vendor Management

  • Build long-term relationships with interior material manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct vendor audits, factory visits, and quality inspections when needed.
  • Track supplier performance (quality, delivery time, compliance).

5. Project Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with project managers, site engineers, interior designers, and contractors to understand material delivery timelines.
  • Track and expedite deliveries to ensure no delay in project execution.
  • Resolve supply-related issues at site.

6. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, purchase orders, delivery notes, and contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety norms, and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare procurement reports, MIS updates, and cost-to-complete reports.

Skills & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Interior Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of procurement experience in interior fit-out, furniture manufacturing, construction, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of interior materials, joinery, finishes, and fit-out processes.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of material specifications, BOQs, and interior engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and procurement software.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced project environments.
