Job Title: Design Lead BESS (RTC, FDRE, Standalone BESS & Renewable Energy Projects) Location: Surat Experience: 7-12 years Department: Engineering / Project Design Reporting To: Head Technology / Design Head Job Overview: We are looking for a technically strong and innovative Design Lead BESS to lead engineering and solution design for projects involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Round-the-Clock (RTC) , Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) , Standalone Storage , and Hybrid Renewable Energy applications. This role demands deep technical understanding of storage technologies, power electronics, and renewable integration, as well as hands-on experience with system sizing, simulations, and techno-commercial assessments. Key Responsibilities: System Design & Engineering: Lead end-to-end system architecture and engineering design for BESS integrated with solar, wind, and hybrid systems. Define technical specifications for BESS including battery chemistry, inverter selection, containerization, HVAC, fire suppression, and auxiliary systems. Prepare detailed sizing calculations for RTC and FDRE applications using load profiles, dispatch requirements, and grid demand curves. Design control strategies (SoC, DoD, charge/discharge schedules) to meet grid and customer flexibility requirements. Review vender design documents, technical specification, GA, layout & EMS etc. Well Versed in BESS & PCS Sizing, Aux Power Calculation, Heat load calculation, Cooling & Fire fighting design. Simulation & Modeling: Conduct performance simulations (using tools like HOMER, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT, etc.) for technical feasibility. Analyze dispatch profiles and run techno-economic modeling to optimize system performance and lifecycle costs. Evaluate efficiency, degradation, and cycle life under different use cases and applications. Technical Documentation & Coordination: Develop and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), BOMs, datasheets, and tender specifications. Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders to finalize engineering packages and integrate control systems. Support tender engineering, bid submissions, and client technical presentations. Project Support: Provide design and engineering support during construction and commissioning phases. Perform technical due diligence and validation for new technologies, suppliers, and products. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's/Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline. 712 years of experience in BESS design and engineering within renewable energy, utilities, or EPC environments. Expertise in battery technologies (LFP, NMC, flow batteries, etc.) and associated power conversion systems. Strong knowledge of grid codes, safety standards (UL, IEC), and storage application types (peak shaving, frequency regulation, etc.). Proficiency in energy modeling, electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, HOMER, etc.), and MS Excel. Preferred: Experience working on RTC/FDRE projects or SECI storage-linked tenders. Exposure to SCADA/BMS/inverter communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, IEC 61850). Familiarity with hybrid plant operations, microgrids, or utility-scale grid integration.
