Project engineer -Retrofitting & Building Rehabilitation

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Site Execution:

Supervise day-to-day execution of retrofitting, structural repair, and strengthening works.

Concrete jacketing of columns, beams, and slabs.

Re-barring / Rebar anchoring using approved chemical or mechanical anchors (Hilti, Fischer, etc.).

Micro-concreting and polymer-modified mortars for RCC repair.

Epoxy and PU injection grouting for cracks, honeycombs, and leakage treatment.

Carbon fiber wrapping / plate bonding for structural enhancement.

Waterproofing systems for terraces, basements, podiums, and faades.

Ensure workmanship, safety, and adherence to specifications and drawings.

Technical Coordination:

Coordinate with clients, consultants, and vendors for technical approvals.

Conduct structural condition surveys, prepare repair methodologies, and get them approved before execution.

Interpret NDT test reports (rebound hammer, UPV, core test, carbonation test, etc.) to identify strengthening requirements.

Material Management:

Identify and requisition correct repair materials (micro concrete, PMM, grouts, epoxy, FRP, primers, bonding agents, anchors, etc.).

Ensure correct storage, mixing ratios, and application procedures.

Maintain material consumption logs and reconcile quantities.

Quality & Documentation:

Maintain daily work records, pour cards, repair logs, and photographic evidence.

Prepare method statements, checklists, and QA/QC documentation.

Conduct JMRs and assist in client billing based on executed works.

Ensure EHS compliance during chipping, drilling, jacketing, and grouting operations.

Planning & Reporting:

Prepare work schedules and weekly targets.

Track productivity and coordinate manpower and material mobilization.

Highlight site challenges and propose technical solutions.

Key Skills & Competencies

Sound understanding of structural rehabilitation and strengthening techniques.

Practical knowledge of re-barring systems, chemical anchoring, and core cutting.

Familiarity with IS 15988:2013 and related repair codes.

Bachelors degree/ Diploma in Civil Engineering.
