Project Engineer (Fire Alarms & Detectors)

As an Electrical Engineer with a focus on fire alarms and smoke detectors at UL Solutions, your role involves managing the execution and timely completion of engineering projects. Your responsibilities include: - Analyzing project scope and determining project specifications - Establishing test programs for product investigations - Preparing reports for clients - Developing UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment - Independently determining project scope and specifications - Initiating communication with clients to promote and explain services - Following up on client contacts - Discussing technical issues with clients, explaining UL procedures, conveying project cost, and negotiating completion dates - Providing technical assistance to clients regarding product inspection and follow-up services - Reviewing files and manufacturer's information to establish appropriate test programs - Coordinating laboratory activities and administrative aspects of project management - Resolving engineering issues associated with Variation Notices - Proposing development of new and/or revised UL requirements - Developing special test methods and test equipment - Representing UL at industry-related functions - Training office, field, and/or laboratory staff and entry-level engineers - Following the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and security practices - Performing other directed duties - Being flexible to work in other domains like Fire Suppression Qualifications required for this role: - University Degree in Electrical Engineering - 7-10 years of engineering or industrial laboratory experience - Fire alarms, heat & smoke detectors product working experience - Candidates from Testing, Inspection & Certification industry preferred - Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary - Working knowledge of conformity standards - Strong communication skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Compliance engineering experience preferred UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, transforms safety, security, and sustainability challenges into opportunities for customers in more than 110 countries.
