Production Planner

Job Summary:

Salary: Salary is not a bar for right candidate & selected candidate can expect a good increment above industry standards, on their current CTC

Key Responsibilities:

• Production Planning & Scheduling:

• Develop detailed production plans and schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, inventory levels, and production capacity.
• Optimize production sequences to minimize changeovers, reduce lead times, and maximize machine utilization for end mills, drills, and special tools.
• Monitor production progress against plans and make necessary adjustments to schedules to address unforeseen issues (e.g., machine breakdowns, material shortages, quality issues).
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and tooling required for production, coordinating with the procurement team.

• Capacity Planning:

• Assess and analyze production capacity (machine, labor, and tooling) to identify potential bottlenecks and recommend solutions.
• Work with the Production Manager to develop long-term capacity plans to support business growth.

• Inventory Management:

• Collaborate with the Stores and Procurement teams to maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
• Implement strategies to reduce excess inventory and minimize carrying costs.

• Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Track and analyze key production metrics such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, machine utilization, and scrap rates.
• Prepare regular reports for management on production status, performance, and forecasts.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems effectively for planning, tracking, and reporting.

• Collaboration & Communication:

• Liaise closely with Sales, Procurement, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving.
• Communicate production plans, priorities, and any changes effectively to the production team.
• Participate in daily/weekly production meetings.

• Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the production planning function to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Contribute to the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications:

• Education:

  Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Production preferred) or a related field.

• Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in production planning, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment (cutting tools, automotive components, or similar industry).
• Experience with solid carbide cutting tool manufacturing processes (grinding, coating, etc.) is highly desirable

• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent knowledge of production planning principles and inventory control techniques.
• Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Soft Skills:

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
