Job Summary: The Production Planner will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining production plans to ensure the efficient and timely manufacturing of solid carbide cutting tools. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments to meet production targets and customer demands. Salary: Salary is not a bar for right candidate & selected candidate can expect a good increment above industry standards, on their current CTC Key Responsibilities: Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed production plans and schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, inventory levels, and production capacity. Optimize production sequences to minimize changeovers, reduce lead times, and maximize machine utilization for end mills, drills, and special tools. Monitor production progress against plans and make necessary adjustments to schedules to address unforeseen issues (e.g., machine breakdowns, material shortages, quality issues). Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and tooling required for production, coordinating with the procurement team. Capacity Planning: Assess and analyze production capacity (machine, labor, and tooling) to identify potential bottlenecks and recommend solutions. Work with the Production Manager to develop long-term capacity plans to support business growth. Inventory Management: Collaborate with the Stores and Procurement teams to maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Implement strategies to reduce excess inventory and minimize carrying costs. Data Analysis & Reporting: Track and analyze key production metrics such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, machine utilization, and scrap rates. Prepare regular reports for management on production status, performance, and forecasts. Utilize ERP/MRP systems effectively for planning, tracking, and reporting. Collaboration & Communication: Liaise closely with Sales, Procurement, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving. Communicate production plans, priorities, and any changes effectively to the production team. Participate in daily/weekly production meetings. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement within the production planning function to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Contribute to the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives. Preferred candidate profile Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Production preferred) or a related field. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in production planning, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment (cutting tools, automotive components, or similar industry). Experience with solid carbide cutting tool manufacturing processes (grinding, coating, etc.) is highly desirable Technical Skills: Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, or similar). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent knowledge of production planning principles and inventory control techniques. Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting. Soft Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
