Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.

The Database Product Design Team is hiring a Product Designer II to help shape the next generation of developer and data experiences across Azure’s mission‑critical database portfolio. In this role, the designer will focus on Azure Cosmos DB, Microsoft’s globally distributed NoSQL database that powers high‑scale, low‑latency cloud applications. They will collaborate with PM and Engineering partners to design intuitive, high‑quality product experiences across surfaces such as the Azure Portal, Microsoft Fabric, Visual Studio Code, and emerging AI‑assisted developer workflows.

  Contribute to the continuing growth of a highly successful design team.
• Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency across experiences.
• Communicate, document, and represent design direction to team members, senior management, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure the experience vision is driven by a well-defined nucleus of user needs, tasks, marketing, and business requirements.
• Work with design, development, and program management teams to ensure interaction and visual designs communicate and function successfully for varying technical and performance specifications.
• Work with user researchers to coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and incorporate results into design efforts.
• Effectively communicate with developers through implementation phase to realize design vision.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
