Private Equity Fund Accountant

Role Overview

This individual will oversee the fund accounting for private equity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other standards. Key responsibilities include managing fund accounting, supporting valuations, coordinating audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role also involves cash management, process improvement, and collaborating with various teams to provide timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books and records for private equity funds, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and fund agreements.
• Calculate and review capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest.
• Monitor fund cash flows and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Assist in valuation processes for portfolio investments and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Support investor reporting, including preparation of capital account statements and performance metrics (IRR, MOIC).
• Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators during audits and tax filings.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Provide analytical support to investment teams and senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CA qualification preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in fund accounting, ideally within private equity or alternative investments.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and partnership accounting.
• Experience with fund structures (LP/GP, feeder funds, co investments).
• Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of fund accounting software (e.g., Allvue, Investran, eFront, Yardi) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions

• This position is primarily office-based
• US shift hours, with flexibility required to meet deadlines or address urgent issues.
