Principal Engineer- Platform

Role Overview: You will be responsible for participating in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of complex Linux systems software to support deployment, upgrades, and day-to-day operations for the NAS appliance. Your tasks will include writing automated tests, contributing to build/release workflows, debugging and fixing bugs reported by customers, support, QA, and development, as well as working with customer support to address any escalations. Key Responsibilities: - Build and deliver Linux-based or appliance software with at least 6 years of experience. - Demonstrate proficiency in Python, bash, and C/C++. - Have a strong understanding of Linux system internals including system, memory, storage, networking, and security. - Work on filesystems such as XFS, ext4, kernel-level configuration, and system performance tuning. - Utilize knowledge of hypervisor platforms like ESX, KVM, or Hyper-V. - Possess a good understanding of multithreading, I/O paths, and debugging Linux-based issues. - Design, implement, and execute automated tests for your own code using pytest for high-quality, reliable software delivery. - Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills. - Work independently and collaboratively in teams to deliver production-quality software. Qualifications: - Experience in integrating with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub, rpm/yum packaging, and system provisioning tools. - Knowledge of networking protocols like TCP, UDP, HTTP. - Experience working in or contributing to open-source communities. - Prior experience with PostgreSQL is beneficial as it is used as the backbone to the system.,
