Principal Design Manager

Within the Windows and Devices UX team at studio+91, engaging Windows experiences are created and shipped, becoming a natural part of people's whole lives to profoundly and positively impact the way they work, live, and learn. Responsibilities: - Lead a group of designers in delivering world-class interaction designs from initial concept through to shipping. - Create and manage long-term partnerships with Microsoft product teams to establish shared goals for delivering business impact. - Proactively navigate through the ambiguity of new product definition and emerging technologies to ensure human, beautifully crafted, and delightful customer experiences. - Develop a deep understanding of customers, their needs and problems, and ensure the experience vision is driven by a well-defined nucleus of user needs, tasks, marketing, and business requirements. - Build a healthy and inclusive design culture as a design manager, manage workloads effectively, and empower team members to deliver their best work. - Inform and facilitate the adoption of good design practices and processes across the team, while modeling empathy and humility through active coaching. Qualification Required: - Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years of experience in product or service design. - OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years of experience in product or service design. - OR equivalent experience demonstrating working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems. - 3+ years of people management experience, leading large-scale product design teams and coaching/mentoring design leads. - A portfolio demonstrating strong interaction + visual design and prototyping skills. - Proficiency in translating research insights into intuitive product experiences. - Solid command of all aspects and levels of interaction/UX design from information architecture to systems and workflows to micro-interactions. - A proven track record of creatively solving complex design issues across multidisciplinary groups and shipping relevant experiences within deadlines. - Ability to balance user goals, business requirements, and technical constraints to deliver delightful and meaningful product experiences. - User-centric approach to design and experience in data-driven decision-making. - Mastery in modern design and prototyping tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, and a willingness to adopt new tools, processes, and workflows. - Experience working within and contributing to a structured design system. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with fellow designers and partners in Research, Product Management, and Engineering. - Highly organized, self-motivated, with a keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize between multiple projects.
