The team leads the platform and innovation for conversational search and core copilot experiences across Microsoft's ecosystem, including BizChat, Office, and Windows. As a Principal Applied Science Manager in the Turing team, you will be involved in multiple hands-on data science activities with tight timelines. This includes training models, creating evaluation sets, building infrastructure for training and evaluation, and more. You will collaborate with internal and external data science, product, and engineering teams across time zones. Responsibilities As a Principal Applied Science Manager, you will: - Drive projects from design through implementation, experimentation, and shipping to users by deep diving into data, identifying gaps, creating models, and setting up infrastructure. - Manage a team of applied scientists, assign tasks, mentor them, and take responsibility for their growth and output. - Document progress, assist junior team members, and come up with evaluation techniques, datasets, and metrics for model evaluations. - Own the fine-tuning and use of language models, including dataset creation, filtering, review, and continuous iteration. You will work in a geographically distributed team environment where collaboration and innovation are key. Your work will directly impact the design, functionality, security, and scalability of Microsoft products using deep learning technology. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field with relevant years of experience. - People management experience. - Industrial experience coding in C++, C#, C, Java, or Python. - Prior experience with data analysis, machine learning frameworks, and deep learning concepts. - Ability to communicate technical details clearly across teams. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's or Doctorate in related fields with additional years of experience. - People management experience.
