Primary - Counselor

The Student Counsellor is responsible for supporting the emotional, social, and mental well-being of students through individual and group counselling. The post holder collaborates with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment and to assist students in achieving socio-emotional growth and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

Counselling and Student Support

• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions addressing students emotional, social, mental, and lifestyle concerns.
• Assist students in setting goals, adopting strategies, and achieving desired outcomes.
• Provide crisis support and facilitate conflict resolution when needed.
• Act as a mediator or facilitator in group counselling or conflict resolution situations.
• Refer students to healthcare professionals or external resources when appropriate.

Collaboration and Consultation

• Consult and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, leadership teams, and other stakeholders to support student development.
• Share strategies with teachers and parents to enhance students socio-emotional achievement.
• Actively support students during transition phases (e.g., Early Years to PYP, PYP to MYP, MYP to DP, DP to University).

Assessment and Reporting

• Monitor student progress and compile regular reports.
• Conduct weekly case management meetings with the Student Support Coordinator.
• Implement and evaluate life skills lesson plans and relevant interventions.

Professional Development and School Engagement

• Attend training and professional development sessions as directed by school management.
• Deliver workshops or professional development sessions for students, teachers, and parents on socio-emotional development topics.
• Ensure alignment with school values and contribute positively to the school culture.
