EEPlus, Inc. is a specialized strategic renewable energy advisory firm focusing on next-generation grid, transmission, and distribution infrastructure projects with expertise in grid integration of renewable generation, large loads, and emerging technologies. The firm's team, with over 40 years of experience, provides a wide range of services including transmission planning, grid interconnection, power system studies, project management, and more. EEPlus offers comprehensive engineering, permitting, technical, financial, and project management services for early-stage development of renewable energy, large loads, and transmission projects. You will be working as a Power Systems Studies and Quality Control Engineer at EEPlus, specifically supporting the cutting-edge GIS-based software system, EEHorizon. Your responsibilities will include: - Performing power flow analysis, Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) analysis, and contingency analysis using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E or PowerWorld. - Conducting system-wide ATC studies across US markets to analyze electrical network performance under different conditions. - Developing and conditioning models for power system components including generators, transformers, transmission lines, and distribution systems. - Preparing technical reports detailing study results, recommendations, and findings for clients and stakeholders. - Staying updated with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to power systems engineering and the energy sector. - Collaborating across teams to provide technical expertise and support for project design and implementation. - Implementing quality control procedures and testing protocols to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards. - Analyzing test data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in EEHorizon's performance and reliability. - Maintaining detailed records of test procedures, results, and findings for compliance purposes. - Participating in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis activities to mitigate risks throughout the product development lifecycle. - Updating EEHorizon-related documentation including user manuals and brochures. Qualifications required for this position: Education & Background: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of relevant industrial experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems major. - Strong understanding of power system modeling, load flow, and grid interconnection principles. Technical Expertise: - Hands-on experience with power system simulation tools such as PSS/E or PowerWorld. - Proficiency in power flow analysis, contingency analysis, and ATC studies. - Familiarity with generator, transformer, transmission line, and distribution system modeling. - Knowledge of industry standards relevant to transmission planning and grid operations. Software & Analytical Skills: - Proficiency in Python, VBA, or other scripting tools for model conditioning and data validation. - Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills. - Experience in designing and executing functional, performance, and reliability tests for software systems. Collaboration & Communication: - Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reports and client deliverables. Preferred / Desirable qualifications include familiarity with GIS-based systems, knowledge of renewable integration and emerging grid technologies, and understanding of energy market modeling or transmission project development.
