PostgreSQL Database Administrator

The purpose of this role is to provide significant technical expertise in architecture planning and design of the concerned tower (platform, database, middleware, backup etc) as well as managing its day-to-day operations. You should have at least 5 years of experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration. Your responsibilities will include designing, configuring, testing, and supporting high-availability clustering utilizing PostgreSQL technologies. You will be responsible for understanding operational requirements such as Hardware, Architecture, configuration, Integration, and maintaining mission-critical Production PostgreSQL databases. Additionally, you will be accountable for all Logical and Physical backup & recovery including PITR recovery. It is essential to have a deep understanding of streaming replication and barman backups, knowledge on authentication and privilege management, managing Clusters, upgrading/migrating various PostgreSQL database versions, performance tuning, replication, developing database automation scripts and maintenance, logical and physical design of database, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Knowledge in DB2 LUW and MongoDB administration is considered an added advantage. You will also provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, and planning of new production systems/databases. In terms of Team Management, you will be responsible for resourcing, which involves forecasting talent requirements as per current and future business needs, hiring adequate and right resources for the team, and training direct reportees to make correct recruitment and selection decisions. Talent Management will include ensuring 100% compliance to Wipro's standards of adequate onboarding and training for team members to enhance capability & effectiveness, building an internal talent pool of HiPos, and ensuring their career progression within the organization. You will also promote diversity in leadership positions. Performance Management will involve setting goals for direct reportees, conducting timely performance reviews and appraisals, and providing constructive feedback to direct reports. Ensuring that organizational programs like Performance Nxt are well understood and that the team is taking advantage of such programs is crucial. Employee Satisfaction and Engagement will require leading and driving engagement initiatives for the team, tracking team satisfaction scores, identifying initiatives to build engagement within the team, proactively challenging the team with larger and enriching projects/initiatives for the organization or team, and exercising employee recognition and appreciation. Your performance will be measured based on various parameters including SLA adherence, knowledge management, CSAT/Customer Experience, identification of risk issues and mitigation plans, timely delivery of new projects, avoiding unauthorized changes, and no formal escalations. The mandatory skill for this role is PostgreSQL Database Admin with a required experience of 5-8 years.
