Job Description Purchase Engineer (Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator Components) About Company: A manufacturing company located at Guduvancherry near Chennai. It is a fully owned subsidiary of a Miami based American company Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators LLC., Position Summary We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Purchase Engineer to handle the procurement of components and materials required for Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators (PVE) . The role demands efficiency, accuracy, and strong vendor management skills to ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely availability of high-quality parts critical to elevator production. Key Responsibilities Source and procure mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and sealing components required for Pneumatic Vacuum Elevators. Understand technical drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and specifications to ensure accurate procurement. Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors/suppliers locally and internationally. Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality. Coordinate with engineering, production, and stores teams to meet project timelines. Monitor supplier performance (quality, lead time, compliance) and maintain strong relationships. Ensure proper documentation of purchase orders, vendor quotations, delivery notes, and invoices. Stay updated with market trends and alternate sourcing options for critical elevator components. Handle logistics coordination for imported materials and ensure compliance with customs requirements. Resolve issues related to shortages, delays, or quality deviations in supply. Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of procurement for mechanical and electrical components (pneumatic systems, motors, seals, sensors, etc.). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office. Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical ability. Efficient multitasking and ability to work under pressure. Detail-oriented and committed to cost optimization and timely procurement. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering. 25 years of experience in procurement/purchase engineering, preferably in elevator, pneumatic, or industrial equipment manufacturing . Knowledge of import/export procedures is an added advantage. Performance Indicators Timely procurement aligned with production schedules.
