Plant Fabrication Manager

You are an experienced Fabrication Manager in the automotive industry, preferably with 8-12 years of experience, looking to lead and manage all fabrication activities for electric three-wheeler production at a factory in Howrah. Your expertise in fixture design, MIG welding, and fabrication of automotive chassis and cabins will be crucial for maintaining quality, productivity, and lean operations. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead and supervise the fabrication shop, overseeing frame, chassis, and cabin fabrication for electric three-wheelers. - Ensure timely production and adherence to quality standards based on design specifications. - Supervise MIG welding operations, welding jigs, fixtures, and ensure welder skill and compliance with SOPs. - Review and enhance fabrication processes to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and increase throughput. - Develop and implement fixture solutions and simple jigs for manual and semi-automated welding stations. - Coordinate with Design, Quality, and Assembly teams for seamless integration of fabricated components. - Monitor material usage, wastage, and control shop-floor inventory in collaboration with stores and procurement. - Ensure safety and compliance with statutory and EHS norms in fabrication operations. - Provide training and technical support to welders and fabrication operators. **Desired Candidate Profile:** - B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. - 8-12 years hands-on experience in fabrication management within the automotive/vehicle industry. - Strong knowledge of MIG welding, fabrication fixtures, sheet metal, and mild steel structures. - Exposure to automobile chassis, cabin structures, body welding, and related tolerance management. - Familiarity with production planning tools, lean manufacturing, and basic quality control methods. - Working knowledge of AutoCAD/SolidWorks and welding symbol interpretation preferred. - Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills.
