Job Description

Job Summary:

The Plant Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the plant. This includes troubleshooting electrical faults, ensuring smooth operation of production machinery, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.

Troubleshoot electrical problems and carry out timely repairs to minimize production downtime.

Install, test, and commission new electrical systems and machinery.

Maintain and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

Monitor and ensure safe operation of electrical systems in accordance with safety codes and company policies.

Inspect electrical panels, control systems, and circuits regularly for potential faults or hazards.

Work closely with mechanical and production teams to support smooth plant operations.

Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, repairs, and part replacements.

Assist in upgrading or modifying existing electrical systems for improved efficiency and reliability.

Ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, and other safety and quality standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

ITI / Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing plant environment.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motors, PLCs, and control panels.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

Hands-on experience with troubleshooting tools and electrical testing instruments.

Awareness of industrial safety procedures and lockout/tagout standards.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or emergency call-outs when required.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of automation and PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)

Experience in high-voltage systems and motor control circuits.

Familiarity with preventive maintenance software (CMMS).

Work Environment:

Industrial/manufacturing plant setting.

Exposure to machinery noise, heat, and rotating equipment.

Use of PPE required at all times.
