Physiotherapist Intern

The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering evidence-based physiotherapy services to patients within the hospital. The role involves working with patients across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and post-operative units, ensuring high standards of care and promoting optimal recovery and functional independence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Assessment & Diagnosis

• Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-surgical conditions.
  
• Review medical histories, diagnostic reports, and interdisciplinary notes.
  
• Identify functional limitations and formulate clinical impressions.
  

2. Treatment Planning & Implementation

• Develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical best practices.
  
• Deliver therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, exercise programs, electrotherapy, respiratory therapy, and mobility training.
  
• Provide post-operative rehabilitation (orthopedic, cardiac, neuro, etc.).
  
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  

3. Patient Education & Support

• Educate patients and families on conditions, expected outcomes, and home-exercise programs.
  
• Encourage active participation in rehabilitation and health maintenance.
  
• Ensure safe use of mobility aids and assistive devices.
  

4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Work closely with physicians, surgeons, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other allied health professionals.
  
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning.
  
• Provide clinical input for patient management decisions.
  

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate, clear, and timely clinical records following hospital and regulatory standards.
  
• Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  
• Assist with hospital audits and quality-improvement initiatives when required.
  

6. Professional Standards & Safety

• Adhere to hospital policies, professional ethics, and patient confidentiality standards.
  
• Ensure safe and effective use of physiotherapy equipment.
  
• Promote infection control and patient safety protocols.
