Physics lab assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials before each practical session.
• Assist faculty members in conducting experiments and demonstrations.
• Guide students during practicals, ensuring safe and correct use of lab equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments regularly.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper lab discipline.
• Manage inventory of lab supplies and raise requests for replenishment when needed.
• Handle installation, setup, and minor troubleshooting of physics instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrometers, lasers, optical benches).
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper storage inside the laboratory.
• Assist in preparing lab manuals, experiment sheets, or documentation when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics / Applied Physics / relevant science discipline.
• 6 months to 2 years of experience working in a physics laboratory (academic or research).
• Basic knowledge of experimental physics, lab procedures, and equipment handling.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
• Good communication and student-handling skills.
• Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)

• Experience with data recording, measurements, and reporting.
• Basic troubleshooting of lab instruments.
• Familiarity with digital lab tools or simulation software.
