Job Description

Job Purpose

To ensure accurate dispensing of medicines, maintain proper inventory, provide medication counseling, and adhere to regulatory and ethical standards to ensure patient safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispensing & Prescription Management
  • Accurately dispense medicines based on valid prescriptions.
  • Verify dosage, check for drug interactions, and ensure correct labeling.
  • Provide patient counseling regarding dosage, side effects, and storage.
  • Inventory & Stock Management
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and monitor expiry dates.
  • Assist in stock ordering and ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) method for inventory.
  • Report shortages or excess inventory to the pharmacy manager.
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Adhere to all statutory requirements as per Pharmacy Act and Drugs & Cosmetics Act.
  • Maintain mandatory records (narcotic drugs register, Schedule H and X drugs, etc.).
  • Customer Service
  • Address customer queries related to medication and health products.
  • Ensure a professional and empathetic approach in dealing with patients.
  • Billing & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate billing and maintain proper documentation for controlled substances.
  • Maintain daily sales records and assist with audit requirements.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per standard hygiene practices.
  • Ensure proper storage of medicines under required temperature conditions.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge: Pharmacology, drug interactions, dosage calculations.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in reading prescriptions and dispensing.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to counsel patients clearly in local language and English.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with laws governing pharmacy practice.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Empathy and problem-solving for patient queries.

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Education: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) with valid license.
  • Experience: 1–3 years in a retail or hospital pharmacy setup.
  • Licensing: Preferred to hold a valid registration with State Pharmacy Council.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
