Performance Tester

Job Summary The Performance Test Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, executing, and analyzing performance test strategies to ensure the scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of applications. This role requires hands-on expertise in performance testing tools, strong scripting skills, deep analytical abilities, and cross-functional collaboration to identify and eliminate system bottlenecks. Key Responsibilities Analyze system performance requirements and define testing objectives. Develop performance testing strategies, plans, and scripts using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, NeoLoad, or BlazeMeter . Identify and validate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including response time, throughput, and resource utilization. Simulate realistic user load, traffic, and system conditions to evaluate system behavior under various scenarios. Execute a variety of performance testing types: Load Testing Stress Testing Endurance Testing Volume Testing Scalability Testing Monitor applications and infrastructure using APM tools like Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, or Splunk . Collect, analyze, and interpret performance test data to identify performance issues and root causes. Generate comprehensive reports detailing findings, risks, and recommendations. Collaborate with Development, QA, DevOps , and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues. Continuously improve performance testing frameworks and stay current with industry trends and emerging tools. Required Technical Skills Performance Testing Tools : Proficiency in JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, NeoLoad , or BlazeMeter Programming/Scripting : Experience with Python , Java , JavaScript , or Groovy for developing custom test scripts and utilities Monitoring Tools : Hands-on with APM solutions like Dynatrace, AppDynamics , or Splunk Database and Backend Testing : Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database systems System & Network : Understanding of HTTP, TCP/IP , and OS-level performance behaviors DevOps & CI/CD : Experience with Jenkins , Git , or equivalent tools for test automation and integration Soft Skills Analytical Thinking : Ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, and draw actionable conclusions Problem-Solving : Strong diagnostic skills to troubleshoot and optimize system performance Communication : Capable of presenting findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders Attention to Detail : Precise approach to test design, execution, and reporting Collaboration : Strong teamwork orientation, particularly in cross-functional Agile or DevOps teams Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience) ISTQB or other performance testing certifications (optional but advantageous) Familiarity with cloud-based performance testing and monitoring solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP)
