Patient Sitter

As a Patient Sitter at UC San Diego Health, you will be responsible for assisting with activities of daily living, collecting vital signs, and maintaining a safe environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your role will involve performing uncomplicated technical procedures, participating in performance improvement activities, and using various technical equipment and supplies. You must possess initiative, prioritize demands effectively, and collaborate well within a team environment. Additionally, you may be required to participate in administrative functions of the unit as needed. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist with activities of daily living and collection of vital signs. - Maintain a safe environment under the direction of a Registered Nurse. - Perform uncomplicated technical procedures. - Participate in performance improvement activities. - Utilize a variety of technical equipment and supplies effectively. - Demonstrate the ability to prioritize demands and work well in a team environment. - Participate in administrative functions of the unit as needed. **Qualifications Required:** - Must have BART or BLS certification at the time of hire with a commitment to obtaining BART within 6 months of hire date. - Minimum of six (6) months previous experience in an acute care hospital, psychiatric facility, or physician's office. - Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. - Medical Terminology Certificate. - Bilingual in Spanish/English.
