As a Principal Support Engineer at Oracle, your primary focus will be to deliver strategic technical support to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for resolving post-sales technical questions and troubleshooting issues related to Oracle's Electronic Support Services. Serving as a key point of contact for customers, you will play a crucial role in facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing guidance to internal Oracle employees on various customer situations and escalated issues. As a Principal Software Engineer in the Oracle Database Exadata & Cloud support team, you will be tasked with fixing and resolving highly complex technical issues related to Oracle Exadata. This includes areas such as Real Application Clusters, High Availability, Data Guard, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Storage, Security, Networking, and more. Your role will involve collaborating with customers, support engineers, and developers to deliver exceptional service and become an authority in Database, Exadata & Cloud technologies. The ideal candidate for this position will have over 10 years of industry experience and possess a technical degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields. Additionally, Oracle OCP DBA certification and OCI Certification are preferred. Personal attributes such as being self-driven, result-oriented, a strong problem solver, and an effective communicator are essential for success in this role. You should also have the ability to work in high-pressure situations, learn new technologies, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Technical skills required for this role include expertise in Database administration, Exadata, OCI architectures, cloud technologies, Oracle database features, Real Application Clusters, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Networking, Database Security, and more. Experience with UNIX/Linux platforms and operating systems will be an added advantage. In this position, your responsibilities will include fixing and resolving highly complex technical issues on Oracle Exadata, covering various database areas such as Real Application Clusters, High Availability, Data Guard, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Storage, Security, and more. You will work closely with customers, support engineers, and developers to ensure a superior ownership experience for customers. Over time, you will have the opportunity to specialize in Database, Exadata, and Cloud technologies, becoming a recognized authority in these domains. As a Support engineer, you will engage in fixing highly complex technical problems, working directly with customers, participating in weekend rotations and shifts, and contributing to initiatives that enhance product quality. You will also play a key role in driving improvements in product quality, acting as a Situation Manager on critical customer issues, and consulting with both customers and management on problem resolution. To excel in this role, you should have over 10 years of industry experience and hold a technical degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Possessing Oracle OCP DBA certification and OCI Certification is preferred, with OCM DBA Certification considered a plus. You should be self-driven, possess strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate excellent customer support abilities. Additionally, you must be willing to work in high-pressure situations, have effective communication skills, and be open to learning new technologies. In terms of technical skills, you should have hands-on experience in Database administration on UNIX/Linux platforms and be familiar with Oracle database features, Exadata, Cloud architectures, and various technologies related to database management. Your expertise should cover areas such as Real Application Cluster (RAC), ASM/Storage, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Networking, Database Security, and more. A strong understanding of UNIX/Linux concepts and administration is essential, with experience in operating systems being an added advantage.
