OT Staff Nurse

As a Surgical Nurse, your role involves preparing the operating theatre for surgeries, assisting surgeons, monitoring patients" vital signs, and providing post-operative care. You will play a crucial part in maintaining a sterile environment, handling instruments, documenting care, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative period. Key responsibilities include: - Pre-operative tasks such as preparing the operating room to ensure cleanliness, sterility, and stocking necessary equipment. - Checking and sterilizing all equipment before the surgery. - Assessing the patient's condition and preparing them for the procedure, including disinfecting the surgical site. During the intra-operative phase, you will: - Assist surgeons and the surgical team during operations. - Maintain a sterile field and apply aseptic techniques. - Pass instruments and equipment to the surgeon as required. - Monitor the patient's vital signs and communicate any changes to the team. - Anticipate the surgeon's needs and perform or assist with counting sponges, instruments, and needles. Post-operatively, your responsibilities will include: - Providing care to patients in the recovery room. - Educating patients and their families on post-operative care instructions. - Ensuring proper handling of hazardous and biomedical waste disposal. Qualifications required for this role: - Degree in Nursing or relevant field. - Valid nursing license. - Previous experience in surgical nursing preferred. - Strong understanding of infection control practices.
