Additionally, the officer should be knowledgeable about reading Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), identifying risks associated with handlingHazardous and Dangerous Goods (DGR), and managing various types of cargo. Key Responsibilities:- HS Code Identification:- Accurately classify products using the Harmonized System (HS) codes. Stay updated with any changes or amendments in HS codes. Duties Calculation:- Calculate customs duties accurately based on current regulations. Understand and apply duty exemption schemes and FTAs. Regulatory Compliance:- Ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws and regulations. Understand and implement SEZ and FTWZ rules and procedures. Export and Import Benefits:- Identify and apply for relevant export and import benefits. Stay updatedinformed about changes in export benefit schemes and FTAs and their aplicability and documentary requirements. Documentation and Reporting:- Prepare and review customs documentation for accuracy and compliance. Maintain records of import/export transactions and ensure proper filing. Risk Assesment and Management:- Read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for various products. Identify and mitigate risks associated with handling Dangerous Goods (DGR) and hazardous cargo. Communication:- Exhibit excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal. Confidently interact and negotiate with senior customs officials and other stakeholders. Capability ot writing responses to various queries and departmental communications Problem Solving:- Resolve customs-related issues and discrepancies promptly and effectively. Provide guidance and support to the team on customs compliance matters. Qualifications and Skills:- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience in customs compliance or a similar role. In-depth knowledge of HS codes, customs duties, duty exemption schemes, FTAs, and export benefits. Familiarity with SEZ and FTWZ regulations and procedures. Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Knowledge of handling Dangerous Goods (DGR) and hazardous cargo.
