Oracle EBS Projects Consultant (Project Costing & Billing)

Role & responsibilities

The Oracle EBS Projects Implementation Consultant is a senior-level professional responsible for leading the end-to-end implementation of Oracle Project Costing and Project Billing modules. This position requires deep expertise in project accounting principles and processes, with the ability to manage the entire implementation lifecyclefrom discovery and requirements gathering through design, configuration, data migration, testing, go-live, and knowledge transfer. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering successful Projects module deployments and an expert understanding of Oracle EBS Projects suite

1. Project Leadership & Business Process Mapping

Lead workshops with project managers, finance personnel, and business leads to gather, analyze, and document precise business requirements specific to project costing and billing.

Perform comprehensive business process mapping and detailed gap analyses to ensure Oracle Projects modules align with client objectives.

Serve as a trusted subject matter expert, offering guidance on project accounting best practices and Oracle solution capabilities.

2. Solution Design & Configuration

Architect end-to-end solutions for Oracle Project Costing and Project Billing modules, ensuring robust integration with core EBS modules such as GL, AP, AR, and Fixed Assets.

Prepare thorough functional design (MD50) and configuration (BR100) documents, covering all aspects from project structures and types to revenue and billing cycles.

Execute all necessary setups and configurations, including defining project types, expenditure categories, revenue methods, and billing cycles.

3. Data Migration & Integration

Collaborate with technical teams to formulate and implement data migration strategies for project master data and historical transactions.

Define interface and integration requirements for seamless connectivity with external project management or time tracking systems.

4. Testing & Go-Live Support

Develop and conduct detailed test plans encompassing unit, system integration (SIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) for all project costing and billing functionalities.

Manage and coordinate user acceptance testing, ensuring issues are tracked, resolved, and sign-off is obtained.

Lead all go-live activities, including system cutover planning, end-user training sessions, and post-implementation hypercare support.

5. Documentation & Training

Maintain all essential project documentation, from requirements and configuration guides to user training materials.

Conduct effective training and knowledge-sharing sessions for project teams, billing specialists, and client support staff.

6. Module-Specific Implementation Experience

• Oracle Project Costing
• Oracle Project Billing

Preferred candidate profile

7+ years of experience as an Oracle EBS Functional Consultant, with at least 34 complete end-to-end implementation projects focusing on the Oracle Projects suite.

Technical Skills:

Expert-level functional knowledge of Oracle EBS R12 Project Costing and Project Billing modules.

Comprehensive understanding of Oracle implementation methodologies (such as OUM).

Proven experience planning and executing data migration strategies and utilizing appropriate tools.
