We are looking for an experienced Oracle DBA to design, implement, and maintain robust database systems that support business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across various Oracle versions, a strong grasp of AIX environments, and exposure to other database technologies and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, implement and maintain our core Oracle database applications.
• Create and maintain 57 Oracle instances running on AIX operating system, ranging from Oracle Database versions 10g to 19c.
• Creating storage database structures with high-level security features.
• Altering storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the company.
• Setting up database user accounts, controlling and monitoring user access to the database
• Training users on how to access the information in the database.
• Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting the database integrity.
• Creating autonomous database backups and contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
• Maintaining archived data on tape.
• Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
• Regularly updating the database security protocols.
• Installing and upgrading the Oracle server and application tools
• Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
• Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application.
• Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) once application developers have designed an application.
• Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as required.
• Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
• Enrolling users and maintaining system security
• Ensuring compliance with your Oracle license agreement
• Contacting Oracle Corporation for technical support
• Ensure SLA's & operational KPIs are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.

Technical and Professional Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in computer engineering or computer science.
• Proven work experience as an Oracle Database administrator on AIX and a wide range of versions of Oracle.
• Working knowledge or exposure to the following database technologies (in order of priority): Microsoft SQL Server
  MongoDB MySQL PostgreSQL
• Experience in Oracle RAC on AIX (10g 19c) and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with Oracle database design, coding, and documentation.
• Ability to visualize algorithmic structures.
• Experience should include DB design (modelling and normalisation), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
• Oracle management tools (Data Guard, RMAN, Data pump), Partitioning, Architecture design principles.
• Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications-translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
