Optical Network Tester

As an Optical Networks Application Tester, you will validate the functionality, scalability, and stability of WaveSuite applications by designing and implementing manual and automated tests. You will collaborate closely with Agile Scrum teams to integrate deliverables into cohesive releases while enhancing test infrastructure and automation coverage. Acting as a customer advocate, you will troubleshoot defects, assess fixes, and ensure a seamless end-user experience. Your expertise in testing microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native applications will contribute to high-quality software delivery.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Understanding customer optical network and service models along with the proposed WaveSuite solution from multiple test perspectives.
• Working closely with team members executing the Agile Scrum Software Development methodology.
• Designing and implementing manual and/or automated tests to validate functionality, scalability and stability of the WaveSuite.
• Identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance test infrastructure, automation coverage, network element simulation.
• Acting as a customer advocate to identify, characterize, trouble shoot and evaluate fixes for defects that may impact the customer experience.
• Planning, executing and tracking of all test and quality assurance activities for projects in an iterative delivery process.
• Working on an end-to-end system that integrates a GUI with third-party software with custom made APIs.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have:

• Bachelor's degree with 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience and 5+ years of automation testing experience.
• Well-versed in a wide range of test domains with exposure to OSS/BSS, REST API, and GUI systems.
• Understanding of networking and protocol concepts (transport, routing, cloud SDN), ideally with experience in optical networking.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, identifying, characterizing, and investigating issues and driving them to timely resolution.

It would be nice if you also had:

• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, database technologies, cloud-native containerized applications, Python, Jenkins, and Git-based tools.
• Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments. Delivering well-tested user-focused software in a continuous integration environment.
• Experience in the telecommunications domain, shipping products to Tier-1 carrier customers.
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka or any Pub/Sub platforms. Deploying, running, and troubleshooting cloud-native applications in containers.
