OCP L3 Support Engineer

Role Overview

The OCP L3 Support Engineer installs, configures, and maintains OpenShift clusters to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance of containerized environments. This hands-on role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, observability setup with Prometheus/Grafana/Alertmanager, cluster upgrades, security hardening, and backup/recovery operations. Collaboration with development teams supports seamless CI/CD deployments via Quay registry and related tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade OpenShift clusters, including logging, monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager), and observability configurations.

• Perform cluster security assessments, implement RBAC/policies, and manage Quay registry for container images.

• Troubleshoot complex L3 issues across cluster installation, networking, storage, and application deployments; conduct root cause analysis.

• Handle backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability setups; optimize cluster performance and resource utilization.

• Support CI/CD pipelines with containerization tools; document procedures and train L1/L2 teams on best practices.

Required Skills

• Expertise in OpenShift/Kubernetes: cluster installation, upgrades, logging, Prometheus/Grafana monitoring, Alertmanager, security, backup/recovery.

• Proficiency in containerization (Docker/Podman), Quay registry, CI/CD tools (Jenkins/ArgoCD), and troubleshooting.

• Strong analytical skills for performance tuning and issue resolution in production environments.

Qualifications

• Education: B.Tech in Computer Science or related field.

• Experience: 5-10 years in OpenShift administration/support, with hands-on L3 exposure.
