Overview of the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Node.js Developer with 4 to 6 years of experience to join our backend team. The candidate will be responsible for developing scalable backend services and APIs, integrating with Redis and PostgreSQL databases, and working within a microservice-based architecture using the Fastify framework. Experience with API Gateways, Elastic Logs, and VM-based deployments is essential.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance and scalable RESTful APIs using Node.js and the Fastify framework.
• Integrate and optimize data flow using PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver robust backend solutions.
• Build and maintain services behind an API Gateway and ensure consistent request handling, throttling, and routing.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and debugging with Elastic Stack (ELK).
• Perform VM-based deployments and manage application environments on cloud or on-premises infrastructure.
• Write clean, modular, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and performance optimisation efforts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and support ongoing enhancements.

Desired Skills/Background:

• 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Node.js and JavaScript.
• Strong proficiency in the Fastify framework or comparable experience with Express.js, and willingness to learn Fastify.
• Solid understanding of Redis for caching, pub/sub, or job queuing.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in PostgreSQL and query optimisation.
• Experience integrating and working with API Gateways (e.g., AWS API Gateway, NGINX).
• Experience with centralised logging using Elastic Logs / ELK stack.
• Experience with application deployment on Virtual Machines (VMs), including Linux-based environments
• Understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, authorisation, and versioning.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (basic Docker understanding is a plus).
