Position Overview

Entry-level position for a recently qualified Neurologist to diagnose and treat a wide range of neurological conditions. This role offers excellent exposure to diverse neurological cases in a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Conduct detailed neurological examinations including assessment of mental status, cranial nerves, motor and sensory systems, reflexes, coordination, and gait
• Diagnose and manage various neurological conditions including headaches, migraines, epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease, neuropathy, demyelinating disorders, and neuromuscular diseases
• Evaluate patients with symptoms such as seizures, dizziness, memory problems, tremors, numbness, weakness, and balance disorders
• Order and interpret diagnostic investigations including EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, CT scans, MRI, and lumbar puncture
• Prescribe appropriate medications including anti-epileptics, anti-migraine drugs, and neuroprotective agents
• Develop comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation plans
• Perform procedures such as lumbar puncture when required
• Manage acute neurological emergencies including stroke, status epilepticus, and encephalitis

Specialized Clinic Responsibilities

• Vertigo Clinic: Evaluate vertigo and balance disorders; perform vestibular tests (Dix-Hallpike maneuver, head impulse test); diagnose and treat BPPV, Meniere's disease, and vestibular neuritis
• Epilepsy Clinic: Manage seizure disorders; interpret EEG findings; adjust anti-epileptic medications; counsel patients on seizure precautions and lifestyle modifications
• Headache and Migraine Clinic: Diagnose and treat various headache types; develop acute and preventive treatment plans; provide trigger management counseling

Clinical Operations

• Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records
• Monitor patient progress through regular follow-ups and adjust treatments accordingly
• Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists for holistic patient care
• Coordinate with radiologists for imaging interpretation
• Participate in emergency on-call duties as required
• Stay updated with latest developments in neurology through continued medical education

Patient Education

• Educate patients and families about neurological conditions, prognosis, and management
• Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, medication compliance, and seizure precautions
• Explain diagnostic test results and treatment options clearly
• Build trusting doctor-patient relationships with empathy and professionalism

Qualifications Required

Essential

• MBBS degree from a recognized institution
• MD in General Medicine with DM in Neurology OR DNB in Neurology from a recognized institution
• Valid medical license and registration with Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC)
• Freshers welcome (0-1 year experience)
• Strong foundation in neurological examination and diagnosis
