Job Description

The Network & System Administrator will oversee the planned and day-to-day IT operations related to the university's regular functioning and special events. This role ensures uninterrupted network and IT facilities for students, faculty, and staff while maintaining compliance with university policies and standards. The Network & System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the university's network infrastructure, ensuring data security, and troubleshooting any IT-related issues to support seamless academic and administrative operations. Key Responsibilities: Network Administration: - Design, install, configure, and maintain the university's LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks. - Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues. - Configure and manage firewalls, switches, routers, and other network devices. - Implement and manage VPNs for remote access. System Administration: - Maintain and administer servers and associated services like DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory. - Manage file servers, backup systems, and disaster recovery solutions. - Monitor and enhance server performance, ensuring minimal downtime. Security Management: - Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect the university's data and systems. - Conduct regular security audits and penetration tests. - Manage antivirus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS). Support & Troubleshooting: - Provide technical support to staff, faculty, and students for hardware, software, and network-related issues. - Resolve escalated IT helpdesk tickets in a timely manner. - Perform system updates, patches, and preventive maintenance. IT Infrastructure Planning: - Assist in planning and implementing new IT infrastructure projects to support academic and administrative growth. - Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions. Documentation: - Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, server setups, and IT policies. - Create user guides and training materials for faculty and staff. Qualifications and Skills: Educational Background: - Bachelor's degree in related field. - Certifications from competent authorities in Networking will be preferred. Soft Skills: - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. - Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
