diagnosing and treating a wide range of kidney conditions, managing chronic kidney disease, monitoring dialysis and transplant care, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care

• Diagnosis and Treatment:

  Identifying and managing kidney diseases, such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), kidney failure, infections, and kidney stones.

• Patient Management:

  Monitoring patients undergoing dialysis or post-kidney transplant.

• Treatment Planning:

  Developing comprehensive and individualized treatment strategies for kidney conditions.

• Collaboration:

  Working effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including surgeons, dietitians, and other specialists.

• Patient Education:

  Informing patients and their families about their kidney condition, treatment options, and strategies for disease management.

• Preventive Care:

  Providing guidance on maintaining kidney health and preventing the progression of kidney disease.

Common Tasks

• Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, urinalysis, and kidney biopsies.
• Prescribing and managing medications for kidney-related conditions.
• Managing associated conditions like hypertension and how kidney diseases impact other body systems.
• Staying updated on the latest advancements in nephrology and participating in research, where applicable.
