Role & responsibilities Job Title: Scrum Master Location: MF India Chennai Experience: 3+ years Employment Type: Full-time Role Overview: We are looking for a Scrum Master who goes beyond facilitating Agile ceremonies—a true execution-focused leader who actively drives delivery, removes roadblocks, and ensures alignment between development efforts and business objectives. This role requires a proactive mindset, a deep understanding of Agile execution, and the ability to anticipate risks before they escalate . The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between development and product management , ensuring sprint goals directly contribute to the product vision and business success. By understanding the product domain and team dynamics, the Scrum Master will play a key role in accelerating delivery, optimizing team workflows, and fostering a high-performing Agile culture . 1. Daily Standup & Execution Focus Ensure standups are goal-driven , focusing on Sprint objectives rather than just individual status updates. Proactively identify, track, and resolve blockers before they impact team momentum. Maintain visibility on dependencies, risks, and key deliverables to ensure seamless Sprint execution. 2. Backlog & Priority Management (JIRA-Based) Collaborate with Product Owners to refine and prioritize backlog items (ensuring at least 70-80% completion ) two days before discussions. Conduct Definition of Ready (DoR) checks to ensure backlog items are clear, actionable, and free from external blockers . Bridge gaps between business and technical teams , ensuring that backlog items align with product goals and user needs. 3. Sprint Planning & Execution (JIRA + Confluence Tracking) Prepare and map draft work items ( 70-80% complete ) in Confluence, ensuring clear user story-task linkage in JIRA . Define realistic Sprint goals , identify stretch objectives, and incorporate insights from previous retrospectives. Ensure team bandwidth, technical constraints, and past learnings are factored into planning for sustainable delivery. Work closely with Product Owners to ensure that Sprint deliverables align with broader product milestones . 4. Proactive Risk Mitigation & Issue Resolution Identify and mitigate potential delivery risks, technical dependencies, and bottlenecks ahead of time . Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and leadership teams to ensure external blockers are addressed before they impact the Sprint . Establish an early-warning risk system and communicate concerns before they become critical issues. 5. Agile Process Optimization & Meeting Efficiency Encourage asynchronous updates via Slack, Jira, and Confluence to reduce unnecessary meetings . Streamline Agile ceremonies, ensuring they are outcome-driven and do not overlap with other discussions. Optimize backlog refinement and Sprint planning processes to minimize distractions and maximize focus time. 6. Product & Business Alignment Develop a strong understanding of product strategy to ensure that Scrum execution directly contributes to business goals . Facilitate communication between Product Management, Engineering, and Business teams , ensuring alignment on priorities and trade-offs. Help teams shift from just "delivering features" to delivering measurable business outcomes . Encourage cross-functional collaboration to bridge gaps between technical teams and customer-facing teams (support, sales, marketing). Key Competencies & Requirements: 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master with a focus on execution, risk mitigation, and delivery acceleration. Strong proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, Slack , and Agile collaboration tools. Excellent backlog management skills , ensuring refinement leads to clarity and prioritization reflects business impact. Ability to foresee risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints early and take proactive actions. Hands-on experience in facilitating Agile transformation, optimizing team workflows, and driving high-impact delivery. Cross-functional collaboration experience—bridging gaps between product, engineering, and business teams. Strong problem-solving skills , with the ability to remove impediments efficiently anddrive outcomes. Data-driven approach to Agile execution—leveraging sprint analytics to drive continuous improvement. Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM, or SAFe (preferred but not mandatory).
