Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Molecular Biology Bioinformatics Scientist to join our research team. In this role, you will apply advanced bioinformatics tools and molecular biology techniques to analyse, interpret, and visualize complex biological data. Your contributions will support the development of novel therapeutic strategies, improve our understanding of molecular biology, and drive innovative research projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a cutting-edge environment at the intersection of molecular biology, genomics, and computational science. --- Key Responsibilities: Bioinformatics Analysis: Develop, implement, and optimize computational workflows for the analysis of high-throughput biological data (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, proteomic data). Perform data processing, quality control, and integration of multi-omics datasets. Molecular Biology Expertise: Provide molecular biology expertise to interpret experimental data, including gene expression, sequence analysis, variant calling, and pathway analysis. Data Interpretation & Visualization: Develop data analysis pipelines and tools for visualizing complex biological datasets. Present results through reports, publications, and visualizations (e.g., heatmaps, gene interaction networks, pathway maps). Collaboration: Work closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and bioinformaticians to design and implement experiments, ensuring alignment with project goals. Provide bioinformatics support for experimental design and hypothesis testing. Software Development & Custom Tooling: Develop custom scripts, pipelines, and software tools in languages such as Python, R, or Bash to streamline data analysis and automate repetitive tasks. Improve existing bioinformatics tools and platforms. Database Management: Maintain and curate large biological datasets and databases (e.g., NGS data, protein sequences, gene expression datasets), ensuring accurate annotation and usability. Literature Review & Trend Analysis: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in bioinformatics, genomics, and molecular biology to apply cutting-edge techniques and methodologies to ongoing research projects. Documentation and Reporting: Write clear, concise documentation for bioinformatics tools, processes, and analyses. Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to communicate findings to internal teams and external collaborators. --- Qualifications: Education: Ph.D. or Masters degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field. Experience: Experience in bioinformatics analysis of molecular biology datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.). Strong knowledge of molecular biology concepts and laboratory techniques (e.g., PCR, Sequencing, Gene Expression analysis). Experience with high-throughput sequencing data and bioinformatics pipelines (e.g., RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq analysis). Technical Experience: Next Generation Sequencing: DNA sequencing of 16S rRNA for bacterial identification, DNA barcoding for plant species identification, Whole Plasmid Sequencing, Primer Walking, Whole Genome Sequencing, Whole Exome Sequencing and Transcriptome Sequencing procedures. Gene Cloning: cDNA Library Construction, Generation of expression vectors, invitro gene characterization and Plasmid development. Molecular Techniques: Genomic DNA & RNA isolation, Southern and Western blotting, Gene Marker techniques including Isozyme analysis, RAPD, RFLP, ISSR, AFLP, Vector Construct and Transformation, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, Native PAGE, SDS-PAGE, Mutation analysis for human genetic disorders. Biochemistry Techniques: High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), LC-MS, GC-MS, MS-MS, FTIR analysis, Atomic Absorption Spectrocopy (AAS), Plant Extraction Assays. Bioinformatics skills: Database : NCBI, EBI, PDB DATABASE etc Sequence Analysis tools : BLAST, FASTA, CLUSTALW, MEGA5 Primer designing : PRIMER 3 output, NCBI Gene identification : GENSCAN SERVER, ORF FINDER Genome annotation: DOGMA, Velvet, 454, Codon Code Aligner Genome assembly : SOAP Denovo, Velvet, Edena Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and statistical analysis skills with the ability to analyze large-scale datasets and interpret complex biological information. Knowledge of machine learning and data mining techniques is a plus. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present scientific findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to group problem-solving and knowledge sharing. --- Desired Qualifications: Experience in analyzing large-scale multi-omics data (e.g., integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets). Expertise in biological network analysis and pathway enrichment tools (e.g., Gene Ontology, KEGG). Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
