Mid Backend Engineer

As a Mid Backend Engineer with 4 to 7 years of experience, you will be a valuable member of the Vikgol team, contributing to the design and development of software solutions for highly scalable systems. Your primary responsibility will be to build robust backend systems using Java and AWS, ensuring the translation of business requirements into technical solutions and working prototypes. You will have the opportunity to convert these prototypes into scalable production-grade solutions, drive microservices architecture and CI/CD best practices, and deliver functional software iteratively in an Agile (Scrum) environment. Your role will require end-to-end ownership of features from development to deployment, collaborating closely with Product Owners to shape impactful user features. Additionally, you will be tasked with building tools and frameworks to enhance future development processes and work on enhancing the speed and efficiency of software delivery. To excel in this role, you should possess 4 to 7 years of backend development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java 8+, Spring Boot, and microservices. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda and S3 is essential, along with expertise in designing and building containerized applications using Docker/Kubernetes. A solid understanding of RDBMS/NoSQL databases, caching tools like Redis, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices will be beneficial. Experience in resolving non-functional concerns like scalability, reliability, and performance, coupled with strong unit testing, code review, and performance optimization skills, will be advantageous. As a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, you should be capable of working independently and possess a strong problem-solving mindset with first-principles thinking. Preferred qualifications include exposure to startup/B2B environments, alumni from premier institutes (IIT/NIT preferred), and a proactive approach to addressing challenges in a dynamic work environment. This is a full-time position based in Tharamani, Chennai / UB City, Bengaluru, with a hybrid work model requiring in-person presence 1 to 2 weeks per month.
