Job Profile / Specific desirable experiences/Preferred knowledge areas:

Metallurgical Evaluation:

• Conduct microstructural examinations, grain size analysis, and hardness testing (Rockwell, Vickers, microhardness).
• Support failure investigations for parts showing wear, distortion, or cracking.
• Carry out metallography and prepare lab reports that link process parameters to material behaviour.

Surface & Corrosion Control:

• Oversee

  surface finishing, anodizing, chrome-plating and passivation

  processes.
• Conduct

  roughness and flatness measurements

  using profilometers.
• Lead

  corrosion testing

  and ensure parts meet required

  cleanroom or medical-grade finish

  standards.

Materials & Process Support:

• Select and qualify metals like

  tungsten, aluminium, stainless steel, and copper alloys

  for structural and shielding components.
• Work closely with

  design, machining, and quality teams

  to ensure materials meet both

  engineering and medical compliance requirements

  .
• Review

  mill certificates, ASTM/ISO specs

  , and verify supplier material quality.

Quality & Documentation:

• Prepare detailed

  material validation and metallurgical inspection reports

  .
• Support

  process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)

  ,

  PPAP

  , and

  FMEA

  activities.
• Work with quality teams to maintain compliance with

  ISO 13485

  ,

  ASTM

  , and

  RoHS/REACH

  standards.

Process Optimization:

• Develop or refine

  heat treatment, stress relief, and aging

  processes for aluminium and copper alloys.
• Support

  brazing, TIG, or laser welding

  processes especially for joining tungsten with other metals.
• Collaborate with machinists to optimize cutting parameters, flatness, and surface finish for precision assemblies.

Hands-on experience with

• Rockwell / Vickers / Microhardness testers/ SEM
• Metallographic polishing & etching units
• Optical and digital microscopes
• Spectrometer/ XRF analysers for material ID

Functional Competencies

• Hands-on experience with

  tungsten, aluminium (6061-T6, MIC-6), Medical grades Acrylic materials and stainless steels.

• Working knowledge of

  ASTM B777, ASTM B209

  , and related standards.
• Familiar with

  heat treatment, metallography, failure analysis

• Exposure to

  ISO 13485

  and medical / precision manufacturing environments is a plus.
