Mechanical Designer

Role & responsibilities

• Independently design plastic enclosures and mechanical components for diagnostic/medical devices.
• Apply best practices in plastic moulding processes including injection moulding and vacuum casting.
• Design sheet metal components as per product requirements.
• Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Testing) principles to ensure optimized production-ready designs.
• Develop modular and compact designs suitable for portable and battery-powered systems.
• Collaborate with electronics, thermal, and validation teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical parts (e.g., heater blocks, optical modules, centrifuge systems).
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using Fusion360 or similar tools.
• Drive designs from concept to prototype stage and assist in transferring finalized designs to production.

Preferred candidate profile

• 23 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Fusion360 preferred).
• Strong experience in designing plastic enclosures and parts for medical or diagnostic devices.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with plastic moulding processes and associated design considerations.
• Understanding of integration challenges with electronics and thermal systems.
• Demonstrated ability to independently handle design cycles from concept to production.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work across cross-functional teams.
