Roles & Responsibilities: Designing the robots and peripheral structures in alignment with other engineering groups and departments Leads internal design meetings to plan design or design review activities. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Reviews recommended improvements based on analysis and documentation conducted. Communicate requirements with vendors and suppliers through 3D CAD and 2D drawings. Exercises DRM, DFX and six sigma principles for mass production. Assist in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures Check and approval of technical 2D drawings for manufacturing release Own the engineering specification, design, development, schedule, and release of components, modules and assemblies Work closely with external vendors to implement solutions for integration of electro-mechanical hardware and thermal systems Work closely with vendors and partners to bring up production of prototypes and components. Drive part quality improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency improvements. Communicate technical decisions, development plans, and ongoing issues to management. Requirements: Demonstrated ability to independently execute & Lead technical responsibility on large scale projects, Interact with customers, mentor junior engineers and create standard works. Experience with a wide range of manufacturing processes such as stamping, casting, and welding in various materials. Experience with composites is a plus. Experience designing for a wide range of materials with the ability to optimize for cost, weight, strength/durability, and thermals. Demonstrated ability in design of Primary structures, mechanisms, tools, jigs & fixtures. Independent working knowledge in Solid mechanics, loading conditions & failure mechanism Mass Production components development experience. Experience in creating various product documentations like BoMs, SoPs, Release Notes, etc. Ability to pay attention to detail in all aspects of design development and a hands-on approach to design and testing Strong knowledge of GD&T, ability to perform Tolerance Stack-up analysis Knowledge of Design Thinking and its application to Innovation/Ideation/concept generation Experience working with reliability teams to perform FMEAs and create/execute test plans to validate your designs. Experience interfacing with testing, and manufacturing organizations, as well as external vendors to bring subsystems to production successfully. Ability to provide correct inputs to FEA analysis and interpret FEA results Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required Willing and able to support periodic domestic travel
