Mechanical Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of transformers, including core, coil, tank, and cooling systems.
• Create and manage

  3D CAD models

  and detailed

  2D manufacturing drawings

  using SolidWorks, ensuring all designs comply with geometric tolerancing (GD&T) and other technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain accurate

  Bills of Material (BOM)

  for production and assembly.
• Ensure all designs and processes adhere to relevant international and UK standards, including the

  IEC 60076

  series and

  ENA 35-1

  and

  BSEN60076

  standards where applicable.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure an integrated, optimized, and cost-effective design.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their technical requirements and translate them into robust design solutions.
• Support the implementation of engineering change orders (ECOs) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• 3-6 years of experience

  in product design, with a strong focus on electrical equipment, preferably transformers.
• Proficiency in

  SolidWorks

  is essential. Experience with other CAD software is a plus.
• Proven experience in designing to international standards.
• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings with a solid understanding of GD&T.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working with international clients, particularly within a European or UK-based context.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with a global team.
